OPERATED INSPECTION DEVICE - ROID
ROID is a family of Remote Operated
Vehicles (ROV’s) designed for use in inspection applications.
The ROID systems are supplied as inspection
head units connected to a dedicated control panel through an umbilical
and, optionally, with a semi-automatic cable reeler.
The ROID102 vehicle contains traction assemblies, cameras, lights
and instrument pods all within a package no larger than a sheet
of A4 size paper and less than 140mm height.
It is of a modular designed to facilitate disassembly and reconfiguration
using simple remote manipulators.
The ROID102 vehicle houses two remotely removable instrument pods
containing Geiger-Muller tube modules arranged for separate forward
and sideway looking radiological surveys.
It has two CCD cameras mounted on a 340deg rotating turret assembly
with integral LED lights. The cameras have fixed lenses which are
set for near (80-200mm) and far (300mm - 2000mm) viewing.
The ROID102 vehicle has is own white LED light arrays at the front
and rear to provide additional illumination in dark environments.
ROID inspection heads will operate in
radiation environments up to a total dose exposure of 1kGy and incorporate
a range of features to facilitate their recovery after failure –
please note that the miniature CCD cameras will need to be exchanged
after 100Gy. |
