In May, Oxford Technologies participated in the launch of the “Innovation is GREAT” campaign, headed by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, in Tokyo.
The Robotics Trade Mission was organized by the Science and Innovation Network Japan of the British Embassy, in collaboration with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), with the objective of highlighting the world-leading capabilities of UK companies and academic institutions and the potential for future collaboration, through a series of site visits, roundtable meetings and events.
One of the key items on the agenda was the session on “Robots in Extreme Circumstances” which focused on disaster recovery and resilience, and in which Mark Sharpe from Oxford Technologies joined a panel of experts including Prof. Hahime Asam of University of Tokyo, Dr Kazuhito Yokio of AIST.
Summing up his visit, Mark commented; “The mission has provided an excellent opportunity to increase our understanding of the Japanese market and to showcase the UK’s expertise in this area.”
“Knowledge of the UK’s experience and capability in nuclear decommissioning has been growing in Japan where there is an enthusiasm to learn from UK experience in this field and we believe there are great opportunities for specialist companies, such as Oxford Technologies, who have a proven track record in this area.”
