3D Modelling & Animation
A key element of any Remote Handling activity is the ability to view the task and the task area. The most natural viewing is achieved using direct line of sight or camera views however it is not always possible to place cameras at any or all of the desired locations. In this context Virtual Reality (VR) refers to the creation and real-time display of 3D digital images of the task and environment. A VR model provides the Remote Handling operator with the capability to view the task and environment from any viewpoint, with selectable levels of detail and with the ability to make transparent any selectable objects within the view. This gives the operator significant benefits over camera viewing but is limited by the accuracy and completeness of the model. The veracity of the VR model is improved by the use of Augmented Reality techniques which involve the superposition of real-time sensor information (such as from cameras) with the VR model.
Oxford Technologies have a wide range of experience related to VR and digital mockups including the facilities to create, optimize, present, analyse and connect complex digital models to remote handling applications and control rooms.
